What is a Music Composer

What is a Music Composer

Throughout time, music composers have had a large impact on our lives. People who have used sounds in organized and unorganized fashions for the enjoyment of others, are music composers. Music composers create music through traditions, inovation, and musical notation.

Music has evolved through voice and material objects that create a variety of sounds.
Most music we associate today comes from western music composers. Composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven helped establish the rules we use today in modern classical music. Yet, many people do not know that these music composers were just a small few who made contributions for music composers. Composers prior to the aforemented composers had significant impacts on music in addition to the contributions the named composers made.
In order to understand what a composer is, one must understand the history of music.  Although this post will not take you through the entire history of music, music composers for thousands of years have together, created the rules that music follows today.

Modern composers

Modern composers write for television, movies, broadway plays, and for personal satisfaction. The main objective for a music composer is to write music for a specific task. With an unlimited amount of musical variations in musical ensembles, music composers are only limited to what their imaginations can bring them.  For example, John Williams, a genius Grammy Award winning composer uses many different sounds and techniques within an orchestra to bring movie favorites alive like Hooked, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter, Jaws, amongst numerous other compositions he has written.

Music composers differ from song writers.

Music composers write mostly instrumental music.  Song writers write music for voice and ensebles.
